I have done some googling, but I haven't found a resolution to this yet. But today, I noticed another issue with a user who is trying to setup their email on their personal laptop which has Office 2016, and I am unable to get their email to connect. I have noticed other users are using the Outlook app on their phones just fine, but these were setup before I came here. However, when I've tried to add the account to Outlook for Android, I am unable to get a connection to the server. I am able to access this account via OWA. Since I have been here, I created an AD account for myself, as well as created a mailbox for the account. Here is a rundown of the issue I've experienced. Outlook won't add it as a new account, but instead update the existing one with correct settings.Hello everyone, I'm seeing if anyone has seen or has any advice they can give me for this issue, unfortunately this client I'm doing IT work for, I only only work on issues 10 hours a week as they are very budget conscious. In my experience the best way to fix this is to dismiss all errors, then open Outlook and try to add the same Exchange account again. Set-OutlookProvider -id EXPR -server $nullĮven when Exchange auto-discover is configured correctly, Outlook 2016 won't update an existing account with new certificate principal name. if Server is not blank run following command to clear it:.Set-OutlookProvider -id EXPR -Server "" -CertPrincipalName "msstd:"

  • If CertPrincipalName is incorrect, run following command to modify it:.
  • CertPrincipalName - should have correct SSL certificate common/principal name in format: msstd:.

  • Login to the Exchange server and start Exchange Management Shell.
  • Fist of all you need to ensure that MS Exchange auto-discover pushes correct certificate principal name: Microsoft Outlook 2016 exclusively uses Exchange auto-discover to configure Exchange accounts so manually changing Exchange Proxy Settings in Outlook is not an option.
  • Under " Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate:" replace " msstd:*." with " msstd:".
  • Open MS Outlook and go to: Account Settings > More Settings > Connection > Exchange Proxy Settings.
  • If remote clients use Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013 they can manually change Exchange Proxy Settings in Outlook:
